Chemgas Shipping's brand new dual fuel coastal LPG-tanker "Sundowner" called Euroservices Terminal for purging operations and LNG-bunkering on 31/05/2016.
The vessel had to change grade from last cargo raffinate-1 to next cargo isobutylene. The cargo tanks were purged with nitrogen until following specifications; less than 1ppm last cargo, maximum 0,2% oxygen and a minimum dewpoint of -25°C.
In renewing its fleet, Chemgas has opted to use LNG as a fuel. Chemgas has build one inland vessel named the "Sirocco" and two seagoing vessels, the "Sefarina" and the "Sundowner". These vessels are fitted with a so-called 'dual fuel' engine and are able to operate on both gas oil and on LNG.
Following the "Sefarina" end of December 2015, the "Sundowner" is combining purging operations with LNG-bunkering in Zeebrugge. 37 mt of LNG was supplied by Shell and delivered truck-to-ship by Schenk Tanktransport.
